The “dual carbon” target refers to the promise made by President Jinping Xi that China will curb it’s carbon emissions in 2030 and achieve carbon neutrality in 2060. To achieve this target, President Jinping Xi has instructed an immediate reform of the current power system and the implementation of a new power system with renewable energy as its mainstay.

Since the beginning of the electricity spot market construction in 2015, under the guidance of the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) and the National Energy Authority (NEA), after carrying out several rounds of settlement trial operations in pilot provinces, achieving positive results and valuable experience, a suitable model for China's circumstances has been formed. Currently, there is an urgent need to hold a summit about the spot market with the purpose of discussing new trends in market construction, analyzing the key issues, and publicizing its achievements

The Electricity Market International Summit has been successfully held three times before. Due to its positive and wide influence in the domestic and international area, the Summit draws more and more attention and support from the government authorities, such as NDRC and NEA.
